Design Manager

Product Design and Performance:
• New product development from brief, in to prototypes and proof of concept, through to series production and batch increase of full production. New Product Introduction NPI generated and implemented over time.

• Mature product refresh and adaptations to suit evolving market needs. Small updates to add value for users, whilst limiting overall elemental cost increase of material, labour, fabrication (laser cutting, forming, folding, welding), coatings (zinc plating, powder coating), hardware, assembly, packaging (COGS).

• Product validation test process formulation over time, evaluating prototypes and benchmarking existing range with known performance with end users.

• Sheet metal design of parts and welded assembly engineering for tolerances, fatigue performance of heat affected zones HAZ and stress concentrations.

• Lead Designer for the Versa Vertical Bike Rack, launched 2023 models: Standard, Folding, Electrified - all off a new common platform. Australian Good Design Award winner 2023. Patented.

• Electric version of the Versa vertical bike rack system, aiming to include those who can't tilt, load or lift bikes into the rack. The primary target user group is our adaptive riders, followed by grey nomads and injured riders with a family or shuttle to run about.

• Design for sister company in marine products (ATTAQ Bimini), launched late 2024. Configurable boat shade, to suit personal preference of look and fit to customer's boat. Rigid structure, folds down for storage in domestic garage. Australian Good Design Award winner 2025. Patented.

• Advanced SolidWorks CAD modelling in both quick concept form and full production library of assets.

• Writing and generating high detail technical product guides and visual assembly instructions.

• Proposing/Creating 2D and 3D assets for website, webshop, brochures.

• Dealer visual merchandising, exhibition displays and posters.

• Product messaging for market positioning and brand expression, shaping an identity with end users.

Business support and Beyond product design/performance:
• Design strategy, modularity and diversification from common designed parts. Market expansion with little/no additional inventory.

• Project planning and team meetings for achieving outcomes in a small company with restricted resources.

• Leading planning meetings and discussions to decide on product developments for business future.

• Creating processes to support business scaling/growth, beyond people and ad-hoc efforts.

• Bringing departments together to develop feasible solutions.

• Championing continuous improvement CIP methodologies and total quality management TQM concepts.

• Intellectual Property overview and lead contact. Raised various: Trade Marks, Design Registrations, Patents.

• R&D Tax incentive reporting.
